Jefferson Miranda
is a Visual Artist, Theatre and Opera Director, Set and Costume Designer based in London with a PhD in Visual Arts from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro/ Chelsea College of the Arts.
He has worked as a Director and Designer, since 1987, in various genres and from small to large scale. Most of his career was developed in Brazil, with ciateatroautônomo (Autonomous Theatre Company), a contemporary theatre company he directed from 1989 to 2013, and with which he created several works.
After twenty years of deep and revealing investigations over the potential for the development of the scene, he decided to enhance his artistic research, taking the Masters and afterwards the PhD in Visual Arts. Since 2009, he has been interested in installations, more specifically, in installing a ‘situation’, where time and presence are involved.
He has also conducted workshops, short courses in several cities in Brazil, and from 2015-16, he was a teacher in PUC-RJ (Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro), in Drama&Performing Arts Course.
